ABOUT ME

I’m Heidi and I am an artist. I live in South Africa, in a leafy suburb, in an almost 100 year old house, happily married to my varsity sweetheart and the mother of two teenagers.        When it comes to art supplies acrylic paint is my first love, but I can’t resist trying new supplies and different ways to use old ones.

I truly believe I was created to create beautiful things that can put a smile on someones face and bring them joy in this crazy world we live in.                                                                               I’m saved by grace, forgiven and I am loved with an everlasting love. I’ve learned how to get rid of toxic thinking and live daily with gratitude. I love sharing my creativity and experience as a lay-counsellor with ladies during art journal and creative classes, to help them discover the truth of how loved and special they are while throwing paint around and making a playful mess.                                                                                  

My art is inspired by my love for colour, flowers, pattern, my collections of objects and beautiful interiors. I paint intentionally but always follow my intuition rather than duplicating a reference photo. I aim to paint colourful and happy represnetations of things that bring me joy.                       Through my art I want to point out beauty in the mundane of everyday life. This is not naive or insignificant. We live in a space in time that is bombarded by hate, violence and darkness, by deliberately choosing beauty, love and gratitude and reflecting that in my colourful paintings, I hope to bring a smile to someones face and increase their quality of life.
